Officials of a Georgia school district fired one of its employees after the employee, Jane Allen, described the US first lady Michelle Obama as a gorilla on Facebook last week.

Forsyth County Schools said in a statement that elementary school paraprofessional Jane Wood Allen was fired Monday.

The statement reads in part:

“Racism and discrimination are not tolerated” in the school's district.
