• Head teacher of the United Primary School 2, Ntueke in the area, Comrade Paulinus Obinali, who spoke in an interview with the South East Voice, said he would not stop thanking God for using Ugwu to save the lives of over 300 pupils who had been using the dilapidated building for accommodation in the school.
• “The roofs were leaking, windows were in bad shape and some of the classrooms have no doors or windows at all. Some parts of the building had almost collapsed. We now have a library, computer section and seats. They are like that of the ones you see in the city schools. The staff strength is about 23 and the students about 300 in population,” he said.
• Investigations by the South East Voice revealed that before Ugwu’s intervention, some of the classrooms were without seats, and the pupils sat on the bare floor just as they used their laps as desks. According to sources, the pupils were also, always forced to go home for their own safety each time there was any sign of rain fall as well as to avoid their school materials being soaked by water.
