"History will judge the colossal effect" of Cuba's previous pioneer Fidel Castro on the world, US President Barack Obama has said.
The passing of Castro, one of the world's longest-serving pioneers, was reported by his sibling Raul on Friday night.
Castro came to control in 1959, and introduced a Communist upset. He challenged the US for a considerable length of time, surviving numerous death plots.
Supporters said he returned Cuba to the general population. Commentators called him a tyrant.
